PEA Awards Confidentiality Notice

Terms of Judging

Important, access to the judging materials constitutes acceptance of the confidentiality terms below, please read them carefully before proceeding.

Purpose

These terms govern the confidentiality obligations of all members of the judging and nomination teams, collectively referred to as the Panel, participating in the Private Equity Africa, PEA, Awards selection process. The purpose of this notice is to ensure that all information shared as part of the judging process, including submissions, supporting materials, assessments and deliberations, remains strictly confidential and is handled responsibly.

1. Confidential Information

“Confidential Information” includes, but is not limited to, entry forms, supporting materials and attachments submitted by entrants, financial, strategic and operational data disclosed by nominees, names and details of shortlisted firms or individuals prior to public announcement, judging materials, notes and internal deliberations, and any communication or documentation relating to the judging process. All such information remains the property of Private Equity Africa and the respective entrants.

2. Confidentiality Obligations

By accessing judging materials you agree to treat all information as strictly confidential and use it only for the purposes of evaluating entries, not disclose, share or reproduce any judging materials with third parties, securely store all materials and delete or destroy them immediately after the judging period, and avoid discussing entries, scores or deliberations outside the judging process.

3. Conflict of Interest

Panel members must immediately declare any actual or potential conflict of interest involving a nominee or entrant. Where a conflict exists, you must recuse yourself from assessing that specific category or entry.

4. Independence and Impartiality

All judging decisions must be made independently and objectively, based solely on the official judging criteria. Panel members must not be influenced by personal, professional or commercial relationships with entrants.

5. Data Handling and Retention

All judging materials, whether digital or printed, must be permanently deleted or destroyed within seven days of submitting final assessments. Private Equity Africa reserves the right to request confirmation that all materials have been securely deleted.

6. Intellectual Property and Use

All entries and judging materials are confidential and proprietary. No content, data or examples from the entries may be used for research, publication, training or commercial purposes without prior written consent from Private Equity Africa.

7. Enforcement

Any breach of these terms may result in immediate removal from the judging or nomination team and exclusion from future participation in Private Equity Africa events. Private Equity Africa reserves the right to take appropriate legal or disciplinary action in cases of wilful breach.

8. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or reviewing any awards entry materials you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to these Confidentiality Terms and Conditions of Judging.

9. Governing Law

These terms and conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute or claim.

10. Administration and Contact

All judging and nomination activities are coordinated by the Private Equity Africa Awards Team. Any questions, concerns or suspected breaches relating to confidentiality must be reported immediately to the Awards Manager at awards@peafricagroup.com.

The Awards Team will review and address any issues in accordance with these terms.
